Where to Stay

There are also a number of hotels close to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), which is just 16 km / 10 miles to the west of the city and within the suburb of Kenner. The Radisson Hotel on the Veterans Memorial Boulevard is a popular option and resides just 2 miles / 3 km away from the airport, while the Hilton and Lexington hotels are considerably closer, standing along the Airport Drive and within walking distance of Concourse A and the terminal.

Budget hotels are available in New Orleans, particularly if you are prepared to look hard enough and stay outside of the city center. Some of the cheapest accommodation resides along the Chef Menteur Highway, the Read Boulevard and the Service Road. Many top-end hotels in New Orleans can be surprisingly cheap and luxury lodging comes in the form of five-star hotels, such as the Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria on Baronne Street and the historical Hotel Monteleone on Royal Street. Somewhat cheaper, although still offering a high standard of accommodation, is the four-star InterContinental on St. Charles Avenue, which actually stands on the Mardi Gras procession route and is very near to the Warehouse / Art District.
