Since Hurricane Katrina hit the southern coast of America several years ago, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport has become one of the busiest airports in Louisiana. This medium-sized facility is situated to the north of downtown Baton Rouge and currently serves just under one million passengers per annum.

Just one terminal and three separate runways serve the airport. The terminal is divided into two concourses, Concourse A and Concourse B. Most of the aircraft movements here are general aviation flights. However, an increase in the number of passenger flights in recent years has meant a significant rise in overall daily take-offs and landings.

American Eagle, Delta Connection, United Express, Express Jet Airlines, Colgan Airlines and PSA Airlines all service the airport. Major cities connected to Baton Rouge through this air gateway include Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte and Memphis.

The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport sits some 8 miles / 13 km to the north of downtown Baton Rouge. The districts of Scotlandville, Zion City and Brownfields surround the facility. From the airport, reaching the downtown area is possible along Interstate I-110.

Cars

Driving to and from the airport is straightforward. From the center of Baton Rouge, head to Interstate I-110 (next to the Park Elementary School) and take it north to the exit for the Veterans Memorial Boulevard. Captain Ryan Drive, which is the main road leading to the terminal, can be found off Veterans Memorial Boulevard. Drivers can reach the airport from the city center in about 15 minutes.

Several reliable bus services serve the terminal. However, it is recommended that visitors reserve a seat on a shuttle bus prior to reaching Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport.
