Lexington Explorium
The Explorium is great for children and actually used to be known as the Children's Museum. It is on West Short Street and has lots of things to touch and get involved with. There are 7 different galleries in total. My kids were interested in the human heart exhibit, which was quite good. I liked the history element about the city. It is not open on Mondays, but is open other day until around 5pm.

The Raven Run Nature Sanctuary
We went to the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. It was close to Lexington and is in the Fayette County on Jacks Creek Road. There were lots of hiking and walking trails around the sanctuary and a good lookout point, with views across the Kentucky River. There are courses is you want to learn more about the plants and creatures here. It was a real oasis and we loved our day here.
