Honolulu Art Galleries

(Honolulu, Hawaii - HI, USA)

The art galleries of Honolulu largely promote Hawaiian artists and their island paintings, many of which are showcased at the Hawaii State Art Museum on South Hotel Street. This popular gallery is officially managed by the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts, and comprises three main exhibition spaces, where a compelling mixture of ethic-influenced art works are displayed.

Another very noteworthy gallery in the capital is the Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House , which is mostly devoted to modern art. Culture seekers in the city may also like to check out the Honolulu Museum of Art on South Beretania Street, which was established in 1927 and now contains in excess of 40,000 art works, both national and international, with many of these being displayed within its spacious Henry R. Luce Pavilion Complex.

Of note, independent art galleries and studios in Honolulu also hold free receptions during the evenings of the First Friday Gallery Walk every month, to celebrate art and artists.
