Boulder Restaurants and Dining

(Boulder, Colorado - CO, USA)

Picture of popular local restaurantWhilst the local lifestyle of residents in the city is very healthy, with recreational activities abounding within the neighboring Boulder Mountain Park and Eldorado Canyon State Park, the restaurants don't necessarily reflect this, serving everything from steaks and burgers, to pasta, pizzas and creamy clam chowder. Healthy dining options at Boulder's restaurants include chicken dishes, salads, salmon, trout and many vegetarian choices.

Hearty fare is always popular with tourists looking for a big plate at a small price, being best washed down with some 'Colorado Kind Ale'. Cafes and similar dining venues in Boulder offer a variety of cheap eats, as do local fast-food restaurants, suiting families in search of a quick bite to eat.

Where to Eat

Downtown Boulder's famous Pearl Street Mall is a good place to find a number of highly regarded local restaurants and cafes, which generally come with outdoor dining areas and patios, where you can sit and relax, whilst watching street performers. A number of large and commercial restaurants have also recently chosen to base themselves around the Twenty Ninth Street, where there is usually plenty of parking close by, together with shops.

Further restaurants reside along Broadway Street, College Avenue and around Canyon Road, being conveniently close to the university of Colorado and its large student population. Located on Broadway, Dot's Diner is the perfect place to start you day in Boulder, with early bird specials, hearty omelets and crispy hash browns. A younger crowd tends to hang out at the University Hill's very own Illegal Pete's on College Avenue / 16th Street, enjoying tasty burritos and similar cheap Mexican fare.

The wine list is extensive and the wine cellar boasts literally thousands of pricey bottles. Another highly recommended restaurant is the Chautauqua Dining Hall on Baseline Road, the Red Fish Brewhouse on 13th Street, the Southern Sun in the Table Mesa Shopping Center, and Sherpa's Adventurers Restaurant and Bar on Walnut Street, where a diverse Asian / Indian cuisine is on offer.
