Consistent with its intellectual and cultural feel, Aspen is also home to several world-class art galleries, showcasing the work of nationally recognized artists.

For a break from the slopes, there's nothing better than wandering around one of the town's art galleries and spending an afternoon contemplating. Founded in 1979 and located on the northern side of the town, the Aspen Art Museum ranks amongst the very best and is home to regular exhibitions of both local and famed artists from across the country.

The Aspen Art Museum focuses mainly on contemporary works and also offers lectures and educational programs for adults and children. Regular summer workshops allow visitors to create their very own art works, while at the end of June / beginning of July, look out for the 'Float Your Parade' event, which culminates with a Fourth of July procession and family picnic.

Baldwin Gallery

Largely representing contemporary American artists this gallery was opened in 1994 by Richard Edwards and Harley Baldwin. In 1997 the gallery moved to its current purpose built location.

Aspen Chapel Gallery

Established in 1985 and sited on the westerly outskirts, the Aspen Chapel Gallery has gained quite a reputation over the past few decades and now boasts regular exhibitions featuring local artists from the Roaring Fork Valle. Each exhibition tend to be based on a particular theme or medium, with a percentage from all sales being used to maintain the chapel itself.

Ravenheart Gallery
