Nearby, the Red Rock State Park
The nearby Red Rock State Park has only actually been open to the public since 1991 and was formerly a private park, owned by the Smoke Trail Ranch. It was purchase by the state and has so much to offer, with wildlife, walks, picnic areas with BBQs, cycling trails, guided walks, fishing, a 20 meter waterslide rock and more. The main sights are clustered around the Oak Creek, which winds its way through the park.

Sedona's Slide Rock State Park - the best natural waterslide ever
This state park is in the Oak Creek Canyon, near the Colorado Plateau, and is a few kilometers to the north of the city, part of the Coconino National Forest area. There are some really great hiking trails here and each year more than 250,000 people come here to enjoy the scenery, and the natural waterslides. Some of the rocks in the river are so smooth and long that people now use them as water chutes in the summer, splashing down into the lovely natural swimming pools at the bottom. A great place to come and join in the fun.
