Most international visitors to Flagstaff arrive by air at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and then take shuttle bus transport to the city. Alternatively, Flagstaff can be easily reached from other parts of the country by road and rail.

Amtrak and Greyhound both offer frequent travel services to and from Flagstaff, while attractions within the city can be largely seen on foot.



Flagstaff Airport (FLG) / Arriving by Air

Flagstaff has a small airport which receives domestic flights, operated mainly by American West. Alternatively, visitors can fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which provides numerous long-haul connections to Europe, Africa and Asia. Shuttle buses operate between Phoenix's airport and Flagstaff, with a journey time of around two hours.

Car Rental

All major car rental agencies are well-represented in Flagstaff including Avis, Budget, Enterprise, National and Hertz, with offices situated downtown as well as at the airport. Flagstaff can be reached via I-40 from the east and west, and I-17 from the south, which connects the town with its larger neighbor, Phoenix.

Buses and Coaches

Open Road Tours and Transportation operate twice-daily services from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon via Williams, while Greyhound provides regular services to Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, Albuquerque and San Francisco. Connections can be made from these places to destinations farther a field.

Trains

Flagstaff's railway station is located centrally in the downtown area, with regular Amtrak trains traveling both east and west. The station also provides a comprehensive visitor center, which can assist with information on train times.

Taxis

There are about a dozen taxi cab firms in Flagstaff, offering a convenient way to travel around. Some of Flagstaff's attractions are situated outside the main center, making traveling by taxi a viable means of transport for those who do not wish to hire a car.
