Piura Hotels and Accommodation

(Piura, Peru)

Open-air swimming pool pictureThere are all kinds of different accommodation options in Piura, with a choice of hotels being noticeably grouped around the central Plaza de Armas and its 16th-century cathedral. Lodging in Piura is not expensive, although hotels drop their prices during the off-season, which tends to run from December to March.

Various guesthouses (hostals / small hotels) and family-run inns (hospedajes) tend to offer better value than the more commercial hotels. However, if money is simply no object, the luxury accommodation in Piura doesn't come much better than the colonial-style Los Portales on the Libertad, which overlooks the Plaza de Armas itself and it also just a stroll from the Plaza Pizarro.

Where to Stay

For lodging that is a little on the cheaper side, both the Hostal California and the adjacent Hostal Moon Night are reliable hotels and are to be found on the Junin. For the quietest rooms and the best views of central Piura, try to stay as near the top as possible. However, if you have a shoestring budget, do expect very basic accommodation and facilities to match, with hot water often being limited, or even non-existent.

For a little more money, the standard of accommodation in Piura noticeably improves. The Hostal El Sol on the Sanchez Cerro comes highly recommended, as does the Hotel Esmeralda and the Hotel Costa del Sol, both of which stand on the Loreto, directly to the north of the Grau Monument.
