A memorable excursion
Any previous visitors to Chiclayo will no doubt agree that there isn't much for tourists to do while on holiday here, although the Batan Grande is an exception to the rule. This is a great national park, whether for leisure or educational purposes, and is easy to get to.

Learn more on Sican culture
I became fascinated with Sican culture when reading up on Peru and its history prior to leaving the UK for South America. Imagine my delight then when I found that there was a museum hosting the remains of this culture just 20 minutes' drive from Chiclayo in the town of Ferrenafe. A welcome change to all the Sipan stuff.

Re. The tomb
You are correct! There are indeed two attractions linked to the Lord. They are the Sipan Museum and Sipan Tombs, the latter of which is the actual excavation site and is at least 30 km out of town. As there is plenty of tourist appeal though, it won't be difficult to get there.

The tomb
I would still be kicking myself had I visited Chiclayo but not gone to the Lord of Sipan tomb. I can confirm, after seeing a few others, that this is the western hemisphere's best discovery and I find it amazing that it has been around since before the times of the Incas. Apparently there are two other sites that are connected to the Lord.

On a par with the Egyptian ones
I still get a lump in my throat every time I think of the valley of 26 pyramids at Tucume. They were built in the times of ancient Peru but I will put my neck out by saying that they are on a par with their counterparts in Egypt that everyone love so much.
