Ayacucho Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Ayacucho, Peru)

Summer cathedral imageLocated in south-central Peru, Ayacucho experiences what is best described as a pleasant climate, which is sunny, hot and at times, quite invigorating. Ayacucho remains mild throughout the year, with minimal rainfall and most rainy weather reliably occurring in the summer months, between December and March.

Whilst precipitation levels in Ayacucho's summer season are far from heavy and quite moderate at most, many tourists favour visiting this area of Peru between April and October, particularly during the exciting Easter celebrations during Holy Week (Semana Santa). At this time, the climate is especially dry and there is still plenty of sunny weather to go round, with up to nine hours of sunshine each day.
