Chimbote Tourist Attractions and Sightseeing

Although the city of Chimbote may be very well known for its historical fishing industry, tourists passing through are often very pleasantly surprised to find such a good selection of beaches and similar tourist attractions.

The beaches around Chimbote are at their very busiest during the height of the summer season, between January and February. Tourists with a little time on their hands may like to wander down the Isla Blanca Boulevard, or to explore the numerous attractions around the city's El Ferrol and Samanco bays.

The city's beaches are actually in very plentiful supply and offer a range of different seasonal attractions, being suitable for sunbathing, swimming and even surfing. Very popular and easily reached by road are beaches such as the Playa Caleta Colorada, the Playa El Dorado, the Playa Los Chimús, the Playa Tortugas and also the Playa Vesique.

Isla Blanca Boulevard

This attractive stretch is lined with many interesting and beautiful attractions, including a number of marble sculptures and elaborately sculpted fountains. The Isla Blanca Boulevard is a very pleasant part of the city to hang out and is usually brimming with sightseers.

Harbours / Humedales de Villa Maria

Immediately surrounding the city are two very large and scenic natural bays. Both of these harbours are filled with activities and known as the 'El Ferrol' and the 'Samanco'. Lying between these harbours is the Humedales de Villa Maria - a very attractive local swamp, filled with native Peruvian flora and fauna, and created by the adjoining Lacramarca River. Herons and other birds can often be observed feeding around the Humedales de Villa Maria.
