Natal Restaurants and Dining

(Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil)

Whilst Natal is a large and expanding city, its restaurants don't quite live up to its size and cosmopolitan image. Although there is certainly a mixture of eateries and dining options in Natal, inexpensive restaurants are generally quite hard to come by, particularly if you want to eat out with a view of the beachfront.

Since Natal is located alongside the Atlantic Ocean, it will come as no real surprise that restaurants here frequently specialise in seafood, using freshly caught fish to prepare tasty dishes, often influenced by its Portuguese roots. Other cuisine is also readily available at local dining establishments, such as Asian and Mexican restaurants.

Where to Eat

A good choice of seafood restaurants are located next to the beaches, coming with al fresco dining tables and terrace areas. Many eateries are grouped within Natal's appealing Ponta Negra neighbourhood, on roads such as the northerly Avenida Engenheiro Roberto Freire.

In the more central Alto de Ponta Negra, restaurants reside on the Rua Aristides Porpino Filho, the Rua das Conchas, the Rua Manoel AB de Araujo and the Rua Sen Teotonio, being central to the local nightlife scene.
