Newport Museums and Art Galleries

(Newport, Gwent, South Wales, UK)

Newport has several extremely noteworthy art galleries available to please lovers of exhibitions and all things art related. With paintings, sculptures and pieces by many famous artists, both local and international, the highlights in the city's arts scene is without doubt the Newport Museum and Art Gallery at John Frost Square.

Nearby, the Riverfront Art Gallery is known for its changing exhibitions and has gained quite a reputation in the area as a popular exhibition space, while on the outskirts of the city, the Ffwrrwm Arts and Crafts Centre is a rather quirky gallery, boasting a sculpture garden and some unusual gift ideas.

A number of popular crafts events take place each year in the area, such as the Caerleon Arts Festival, which is always well attended. There is also a superb art trail around the very heart of Newport, known as the city's open-air museum, starting at John Frost Square and passing a number of award-winning sculptures along the way, such as the spectacular 'Steel Wave', which dominates much of the riverfront.
