Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

December and January are predictably the coldest months in Turkey, when Ankara sees daytime temperatures staying just a few degrees above freezing. Rainy weather is most likely during the winter months. Both spring and autumn also experience rainy weather, although average monthly precipitation levels rarely exceed 25 mm / 1 inch at this time of the year.

Summer marks the peak tourism period within Ankara, with visitors arriving in this season to take full advantage of the fine climate and plentiful sunshine. However, outside of summer, April, May and October are also warm months and tourists visiting during these months will find the city noticeably quieter than it is between June and September.
