Ankara Hotels and Accommodation

(Ankara, Turkey)

City pictureThe accommodation available within Ankara certainly comes at all levels and there are plenty of cheap hotels if you are prepared to accept only basic facilities. At the other end of the lodging scale, luxury accommodation is also plentiful within Ankara, especially in the Kavaklidere area. Bear in mind that a little haggling over the hotel price can often be very effective, particularly if you are arriving at a quiet time.

A good selection of the cheapest hotels can be found in the Ulus area of Ankara, lining streets on the eastern side of the Ataturk Bulvari, close to the Opera Meydani, the Post Office (PTT) and also the Ulus Meydani. Although this accommodation is perfectly adequate for many travellers, the rooms tend to be small and rather uninspiring.

Where to Stay

By just spending a little more money, you will find that the standard of accommodation in Ankara greatly improves. Worth considering are the mid-range hotels lying directly to the north of the Ulus Meydani, around the bustling Cankiri Caddesi, although if possible, do request a room towards the back, away from the traffic and constant street noise.

A slightly better bracket of hotels in Ankara are to be found close by, around Kizilay and Sihhiye. As you move further southwards, the accommodation steadily improves and the prices begin to rise further as you approach top end lodging around Kavaklidere, where both the Hilton and the Sheraton reside. Alternatively, check the hotels around Maltepe and the Gazi Mustafa Kemal Bulvari, which tend to suit most requirements and budgets.
