Re. Captivating whether a motorist or not
I would agree if you said that the Mercedes-Benz Museum is 'up there' with the best museums in Stuttgart but number one for my money is definitely the Porsche Museum. It's a little further out of the centre than the Mercedes-Benz Museum but is a lot easier to navigate and has more soul in my opinion.

My partner and I both enjoyed the Mercedes-Benz museum, which is around three miles from the city centre of Stuttgart. We couldn't decide which was more impressive - the cars or the building itself. Because there are no Mercs made after '77, this is very much a historical experience. Great gift shop too. The best museum in Stuttgart, hands down.

Re. An art museum that makes a nice change to the automobile
Kunstmuseum is great but did you also try the State Museum? It has plenty of art too and not as busy as Kunstmuseum can get sometimes. Just half a mile from Stuttgart city centre. I think you can find it easily.

An art museum that makes a nice change to the automobile
I know they say you can enjoy the Merc or Porsche Museum without being into cars but I think the Kunstmuseum has much more appeal - especially for art lovers. Everything from the 50s through to the present days is covered. The fountains outside are lovely too.

Bucket list material
Being thrill-seeker, I wanted very much to find quality observation deck. I found one at Fernsehturm - also known as Television Tower. Very good views of Stuttgart skylines and great place for food and drink. I advice that you be there on clear sky day!
