Lyon Saint Exupery Airport (LYS) Information

(Lyon, Rhône Alpes, France)

The airport serving France's second-biggest urban area, Lyon, was officially renamed after one of the city's most famous residents, author and airman Antoine de Saint-Exupery, in the year of 2000. Just a decade later, the Lyon Saint Exupery Airport was ranked as France's fourth-busiest, with the facility receiving nearly 8.5 million visitors to its twin-level terminals annually.

Passengers can easily travel between the two terminals aboard a free shuttle bus service or on foot through the connecting hall that links the terminals together. The free shuttle buses also transport passengers to the airport's long-term car park.

As a major Air France regional hub for Lyon and its surrounding Rhône Alpes region, the Lyon Saint Exupery Airport operates direct flights to destinations across France, the Middle East and Africa. Terminal 1 handles all domestic flights, while Terminal 2 serves as the international terminal. All arriving passengers are received on Level 1, and all departing passengers embark aircraft from Level 2.

Buses

In addition to regular runs between the airport and the city centre, the extensive Satobus shuttle bus network travels to numerous other Rhone Alps communities. The Satobus desk is located in the airport's connecting hall.

Several centrally located hotels have their own complimentary shuttle bus service, while Eurolines provides the city's international bus services at the Gare de Lyon Perrache train station in the city centre.

Trains

Visitors walk beneath an impressive fan-shaped canopy at the TGV (Lignes à Grande Vitesse) rail station, which is situated between the long-term and short-term parking areas. High-speed TGV trains can reach Marseille in just over one hour and 30 minutes, or Paris in only two hours. Passengers can also travel between London and Lyon aboard the Eurostar trains.

Taxis

Taxis are available 24 hours at the airport's Terminal 1 building, but can be costly. Pricier still are the Chabe-Verjat Limousine Service's luxury vehicles. Of note, the taxi ride into the city takes around 30 minutes.
