A different city by night
The appearance of Lyon changes greatly when the sun sets. There are many lovely illuminations all ove the city, lighting up well over 100 different landmarks and sights. It is even more special each year on the 8th of December, when the windows of many houses are lit by candlelight as a religious celebration of the Virgin Mary.

Some Fine Arts in Lyon
When I visited the Museum of Fine Arts I didn't want to leave! It is housed in a former Abbey, in Lyon city centre, on the Place des Terreaux. It contains one of the biggest art collections now on show in the whole of France, with art works from many different countries and periods, including Egypt and Greece.

Cable Car to the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere
The journey to the Basilique of Fourviere was such a nice experience. We took a cable car ride from the St. Jean area, known as the funiculaire, and enjoyed some lovely scenery on the way.

Lyon Gallo Roman Ruins
At the very top of the Fourviere Hill are a couple of very ancient theatres and some rather interesting Roman ruins. The biggest of these two theatres is the oldest in France and was completed in around 15BC.
