Canterbury Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Canterbury, Kent, England, UK)

Picture of the cathedral in the sunshineCanterbury is a pleasant city to visit, although the weather can be changeable at times, particularly in the winter and springs months. The county of Kent is often known as the 'Garden of England' due to its mild climate and favourable weather, with fairly low levels of rainfall throughout the year.

The climate in Canterbury is strongly influenced by its south-easterly position, being sited close to the sea and mainland Europe's French coastline. As a result of its location, Canterbury tends to be warmer than more northerly cities in England and this is especially noticeable during the winter months.
