There are a handful of good golf courses within the Canterbury area and plenty more nearby. A number of the golf courses in this part of Kent were designed by famous golfing architect Henry Cotton and the resulting golf courses are exceptional.

The main golf courses here are the Broome Park Golf Club just outside of the city, and the centrally located Canterbury Golf Club, both featuring 18 holes and well-maintained greens.

The Broome Park Golf Club is home to a long, 18-hole golf course, which stretches for around 6,700 yards. Set within the spacious parklands surrounding the grand 17th-century Mansion House at the Broome Park Estate, the course features an undulating terrain, magnificent views of nearby valleys, and a halfway house serving hot refreshments. The estate is particularly historic and believed to date back to the time of Charles I, covering more than 250 acres / 100 hectares.

The Canterbury Golf Club stands just 1.5 km / 1 mile from the city centre and can be reached by travelling along the A257 Sandwich road. With 18 holes, relatively tight fairways, a yardage of almost 6,300 and an appealing woodland setting, the course features a number of tricky and often challenging holes and suits most golfing abilities. Green fees here are moderately priced and the facilities are excellent, including a clubhouse complete with bar serving a range of snacks and evening meals.
