(Weymouth, Dorset, England, UK)

View of the harbourNo trip to Weymouth is complete without fish and chips on the beachfront and plenty of chip shops are never far away. However, Weymouth is also home to a surprising selection of restaurants and eateries of various descriptions.

Many pubs in Weymouth are especially popular at lunchtimes, serving hearty dishes and traditional 'pub grub', while for fine dining at its best, a number of restaurants specialise in seafood, using fresh catches from the harbour. Locally caught scallops, oysters, crabs and lobsters are amongst the many seafood offerings at many of Weymouth's restaurants.

Where to Eat

Award-winning restaurants, bistros and pubs along the harbour and Esplanade are always busy and offer the advantage of scenic views. Many of these eateries are frequented by locals, offering a clear indication of their quality and good value. During the sunny summer, restaurants in this part of Weymouth often offer outdoor seating areas and al fresco dining is particularly appealing, with the sea air almost making the food taste better.

Further inland and away from the seafront you will find plenty of choice, with Indian, Chinese and Tapas bars scattered around the town of Weymouth. Restaurants and eateries are particularly clustered along Church Street, Dorchester Road, East Street, Littlemoor Road, Preston Road, St. Mary Street, St. Thomas Street, Trinity Road and also on the Weymouth Town Bridge.

Notable restaurants in Weymouth include Enzo's along the Esplanade and opposite the Clock Tower, and the Ghurka Restaurant next to the Swannery car park. Also worth considering is the Oyster Pot on nearby Portland Bill, which offers everything from a simple snack to a full three-course meal, complete with pleasant surroundings. All of these restaurants come highly recommended.
