Photo of golfing resortPrague has an enormous amount to offer visitors in the way of tourism, although many are often surprised to discover that a good selection of Czech golf courses are to be found less than an hours' drive away. Most feature 18 holes and resort facilities, including clubhouses with restaurants and views, equipment rental and pro shops.

Close to Prague, the Konopiste Golf Resort, officially opened in 2002, is a relatively recent addition to the Czech Republic's golfing scene and can be found within the town of Benesov. At around 38 km / 24 miles from Prague, this popular golf course lies directly to the south-east and is known for its proximity to its namesake, Konopiste Castle. The course boasts 18 holes, with a yardage of almost 7,100 and an additional secondary course, complete with its own character and set of hazards.

This is a much older golf course and dates back to the early part of the 1960s, although the present layout was remodelled as recently as 2000. The vast clubhouse contains a good professional golfing shop, along with a restaurant and also an indoor driving range with eight bays.

Prague golfers regularly head to the Podebrady Golf Club, which is spread over almost 250 acres / 100 hectares, with 18 holes and a yardage of around 6,550. The winding River Label comes into play on many of the holes and adds a natural element of difficulty.
