Picture of the Cultural FoundationThe arts scene of Abu Dhabi is best described as burgeoning, with a number of spectacular art galleries in the offing. Currently under construction in Abu Dhabi is the Guggenheim Museum, which will immediately become the biggest of all the Guggenheim museums and is being built at a cost of more than US$400 million, with an expected completion date of 2011.

Also very much in development is the Abu Dhabi Louvre, another major art gallery linked with the Louvre in Paris. Planned to open its doors to art lovers in 2011, the city's Louvre will feature space-age architecture and reside within the Cultural District of Saadiyat Island. Presently the main art exhibitions tend to take place at the Cultural Foundation and the Emirates Palace.
