Johor Bahru Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia)

Johor Bahru's climate is equatorial, which means there is little variation in temperature and humidity throughout the year. It has the same weather as that of nearby Singapore, with lots of rain and plenty of heat.

Despite the year-round heat, it does cool off somewhat at the end of the year, with the downside being that it also rains a lot. May to October generally offers a more pleasant climate, but be aware that haze from Sumatran forest fires can appear at any time.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

The best time to visit is between June and August, when it is less humid and less wet. Unfortunately this is when everyone else visits as it is the European school holidays time, plus locals come through Johor on their way to Singapore. May and September are not too bad climate wise, suiting those who want to avoid crowds.

November to January has the worst weather in Johor Bahru. It rains heavily during these months owing to the north-east monsoon, although it is cooler. To avoid the worst of it, do your sightseeing and shopping in the morning as it tends to rain most in the afternoon and early evening.
