Jakarta Weather and Climate Information
(Jakarta, Java, Indonesia)
All through the year, the climate enjoyed by Jakarta remains hot, very hot in fact, due to Indonesia's closeness to the equator. Plentiful sunny weather sees temperatures frequently top 30°C / 86°F every single month.
High humidity levels can make the weather and climate of Jakarta feel a little sticky, and so light, cotton clothing is essential, as is an adequately air-conditioned hotel room. Although temperatures in Jakarta rarely fluctuate more than just a few degrees, it is a completely different story when it comes to rainfall.
Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go
The official wet season of Jakarta reliably falls between October and February each year, and although the climate and temperatures remain hot, irregular downpours can be expected at any time, particularly during the winter monsoon weather.
January tends to experience the most rainy weather in Jakarta, seeing average precipitation levels of around 300 mm / 11.8 inches, compared to around 150 mm / 5.9 in April and November, and just 50 m / 2 inches in August, the driest month. Sunshine remains in good supply throughout the year, averaging from five hours in January, right up to eight hours during the dry months of August and September.
