Solo Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Solo, Central Java, Indonesia)

The tropical climate of Solo is quite Indonesian in character and regulated by its proximity to the equator and related air circulation, with a constant hot climate, no winter weather whatsoever, and just two main seasons. The dry season (May to September) on Java is understandably the most popular time to holiday in Solo, when rain is quite unlikely and sunshine is almost constant.

Temperatures during the dry season tend to average around 31°C / 88°F by day and some 23°C / 73°F, often feeling hotter due to the humid climate. Therefore, air-conditioned hotels in Solo come recommended and are really quite essential for a good night's sleep.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

Each six months, the climate in Solo changes, with the monsoon rains arriving in October and lasting right up to April, peaking between December and March. At this time of the year, rainy weather can be quite dramatic, with tropical downpours and storms. These can be both short-lived or last for several days, although are usually interspersed at some stage with dry spells and sunshine.

Whatever the time of year you choose to visit Solo you should always be sure to bring light clothes, allowing you to cope better with the high temperatures. Although holiday makers will not usually find travelling during the wet season problematic, the roads are known for becoming muddy and slippery.
