Getting Around, Agra Travel, Transport and Car Rental

(Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India)

Public TransportAgra is a busy city and extremely popular tourist destination, featuring a good choice of public transportation.

Many tourists travel here using long-haul bus transport from nearby Delhi, while others arrive by train, at the city's prominent Agra Cantonment Train Station, or fly into the nearby Kheria Airport.

Apart from local bus transport, inner-city travel comes in the form of taxis and three-wheeler rickshaws. For many, the most centrally located parts of Agra are best reached by foot, since traffic can become heavy.

Many trains regularly travel to cities around India, with the main destinations including Delhi (around three hours), and Jaipur (four hours). Car Rental

Those choosing to rent a car in Agra will enjoy the freedom that it provides, but do avoid driving within the city centre if possible, since it often becomes congested. Rental car transport is perfect for those planning to travel outside of the city and around Uttar Pradesh, and it is possible to drive to Delhi along the National Highway 2, although you should always allow plenty of time, since traffic can often be extremely heavy. Other popular destinations, which can be reached by car from Agra include Gwalior (two hours / National Highway 3), Kanpur (five hours / National Highway 2) and Lucknow (six and a half hours / National Highway 2). Cars can also be hired with their own personal driver, who will be happy to transport you to many locations around Agra.
