Cape Henry Lighthouse at Virginia Beach
This tower is located at Cape Henry and on the coastline of Virginia. The Cape Henry Lighthouse has been in use for many years and protects the cape and ships heading to the habor at Chesapeake Bay. It was built in 1792 and is now listed as a National Historic Landmark. There is a new lighthouse close by, which is very different in appearance. You can climb to the observation platform at the top for some nice views, although the coastal views are pretty nice anyway. This is an adjacent memorial, overlooking the scene where the Battle of the Virginia Capes took place in 1781.

Exciting Virginia Beach Amusement Park
The Virginia Beach Amusement Park provides the ultimate entertainment center for all the family. My children certainly seemed to have a whale of a time there. There were tons of good rides, lots of things for adrenaline junkies. I loved the Skyscraper ride myself, while the kids, they couldn't have been happier (or wetter) than when they were on the log flume. Lookout for discount vouchers and make sure that you get their early, so that you can make a day of it. We tried to work our way around backwards to avoid the crowds. It kind of worked!

Virginia Beach - nice sand!
When or not you are a fan of beaches, Virginia Beach is just so lovely that you cannot help but be drawn there. The sand is so inviting and so lovely and clean - you can tell that it is really well looked after and the pride and joy of the locals. The Atlantic Ocean makes a lovely backdrop and I simply couldn't seem to stop myself going in for a quick paddle. I'm told that you can often see dolphins swimming in the distance, but I couldn't make any out on that day.
