Memphis Hotels and Accommodation

(Memphis, Tennessee - TN, USA)

The famous city of Memphis comes with much in the way of accommodation. One of the most famous hotels in Memphis is without doubt the Heartbreak Hotel, named after the Elvis Presley song of the same name and situated almost opposite the Graceland mansion.

Further hotels stand just outside of Memphis, in the neighboring suburbs of Bartlett, Germantown, Horn Lake, Olive Branch and Southaven. There is also an array of inexpensive accommodation standing within reach of the busy Memphis International Airport (MEM), which is only 8 miles / 12 km to the south of the city and within the Oakville area. The Radisson Inn on Winchester Road is actually situated within the airport grounds and just a short walk away from the terminals and concourses, being next to the Plough Boulevard. Nearby and to the north is the Holiday Inn Select on Democrat Road, while to the west is the Airways Boulevard - home of the budget Knights Inn Motel.

Where to Stay

Cheap hotels are certainly available in Memphis if you are prepared to stay on the outskirts of the city and commute to attractions. Some inexpensive hotels are concentrated around East Brooks Road, Macon Cove and Millbranch Road. Particularly notable in the budget accommodation category is the highly affordable Days Inn on the Elvis Presley Boulevard, which is no more than half a block away from Graceland itself and perfectly located for Elvis fans on a pilgrimage. You may also like to consider staying at the Real Value Inn on Lamar Avenue, or the Super 8 Motel on West Illinois Street, both of which have been awarded one star on the lodging scale.

For some of the cheapest accommodation available, head to the west, across the Mississippi River and into the neighboring state of Arkansas, where innumerable chain motels are based around the I-40 interstate. Those who prefer to camp will find that the best options in Memphis include the TO Fuller State Park, which lies on the southerly side of the city and off the Highway US-61. Surprisingly just across from Graceland is the KOA Kampground on the Elvis Presley Boulevard, which comes with a selection of appealing wooden cabins.

Especially popular mid-range accommodation in Memphis stands along North Main Street, the Ridge Lake Boulevard and Union Avenue. Within easy walking distance of Beale Street and Peabody Place is the Holiday Inn Select on Union Avenue, while standing on North Front Street is the Comfort Inn Downtown, where the best rooms boast exceptional views of the Mud Island River Park and the Mississippi River. Also in downtown is the Marriott on North Main Street, which is situated right next to the Memphis Cook Convention Center. Those planning to pay a visit to the University of Memphis may like to stay at the Holiday Inn on Central Avenue, which is based on the northern side of the spreading campus and close to the Fogelman College of Business and Economics.

For luxury accommodation in Memphis, look out for the sumptuous four-star hotels on both Madison Avenue and Union Avenue, where the Madison and Peabody hotels await patronage, respectively. Located on North 2nd Street, the Crowne Plaza is another reliable four-star option, as is the Hilton on the Ridge Lake Boulevard, which enjoys a convenient setting within the East Memphis business district.
