Durham Golf Courses and Clubs

Spread around the city of Durham are a number of popular golf courses, with the biggest cluster being found on the northwesterly outskirts, between Old West Durham and Bennett Place. The Hillandale Golf Course is especially close and stands near to both the University and Kings Plaza shopping centers, while on the other side of Interstate I-85 is the Croasdaile Country Club, next to Lake Unity and just to the south of the Wake Forest Reservoir.

Directly to the west of downtown Durham and alongside the Coombs Field Baseball Stadium, the historic 18-hole championship Washington Duke University Golf Club joins with the Duke University (West Campus) and dates back to the 1950s. Of interest, this is actually the only course in the area to have been designed by acclaimed golfing architect Robert Trent Jones and ranks in North Carolina's top ten. Various tournaments have been staged here over the years, including the NCAA Men's Golf Championship.
