Concord Restaurants and Dining

(Concord, New Hampshire - NH, USA)

Considering the city's fairly modest size, Concord is called home by a surprisingly decent assortment of restaurants, in the form of bistros, Italian eateries, pizzerias, steakhouses and traditional American burger joints.

The majority of the dining options are based within the downtown district or its outskirts, while there are also a number of familiar chain eateries to be found lining Loudon Road, to the northeast of downtown Concord.

With southern New Hampshire located alongside the North Atlantic Ocean, the dining menus at local restaurants tend to feature seafood of some description. Look out for dishes containing sushi-grade yellowfin tuna, Atlantic salmon, cod, haddock, clams, lobsters and scallops, as well as Prince Edward Island mussels, from the north. Corn chowder with bacon is an especially popular staple dish, particularly during the cold winter months.

The Barley House Restaurant and Tavern on North Main Street is certainly worth looking out for in central Concord, with its choice of gourmet burgers including beef, bison and turkey.

Take a stroll southwards, passing by the John Stark Statue and Caffenio, and you will soon reach a noticeable cluster of restaurants, which are well-placed and easy to locate in this part of Concord. Here you will find the likes of Cheers Inc. on Depot Street, the House of India on Pleasant Street, and the Margaritas Mexican Restaurant on Bicentennial Square, as well as Dos Amigos Burritos and Subway, both of which stand on North Main Street itself.

Other dining specialties on offer here include ahi tuna, and lobster macaroni and cheese. The Red River Theatres cinema complex is close by, as is the Capitol Shopping Center, where Sal's Pizza is on hand to satisfy shoppers with an appetite.

Lying on the northeastern side of Concord, the Steeplegate Mall is a good choice for a rainy day. Shoppers here often leave time for a spot of lunchtime dining, since Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar is on hand, along with fast-food giant Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Perfect Pretzel and Sbarro, a popular Italian restaurant chain specializing in pizzas.
