Saint Paul Restaurants and Dining

(Saint Paul, Minnesota - MN, USA)

Between them, the Minnesota Twin Cities boast a plethora of enticing restaurants, suiting visitors to both Minneapolis and St. Paul alike. Dining options tend to be at their most plentiful around the city's downtown districts and also along the interconnecting University Avenue.

In downtown St. Paul, many of the most popular restaurants are close to the Mississippi River, Mears Park and the Farmers' Market. Families will no doubt enjoy dining out at the centrally located Italian-themed Pazzaluna Restaurant on St. Peter Street, which boasts lobster ravioli, grilled tuna, endless pasta dishes, gnocchi bolognese and tasty homemade pizzas, not to mention favorable reviews.

Running parallel with St. Peter Street is Wabasha Street, where a further selection of restaurants and eateries await diners in downtown St. Paul, such as the American Burger Bar, Erbert and Gerberts, Murphy's Alley and Subway, just down the road from the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel.

Where to Eat

If your palate is a fan of Mediterranean-style cuisine, then be sure to book a dining table at the acclaimed Shish Mediterranean Grill and Cafe on Grand Avenue, on the western side of St. Paul city center (between Tangletown and Union Park).

The food here is made with high-quality ingredients, while the prices are kept to an affordable level. Specialties at this restaurant include various kebabs (beef tenderloin, kofta, shrimp and shish), moussaka, Greek salads and seasonal soups, as well as the Mediterranean-style 'Breakfast from Jerusalem', which features seasonal beef, falafel, feta cheese, hummus, olives and pita bread.

Also situated on Grand Avenue, on the southwestern side of St. Paul, is Cafe Latte. Much more than a simple coffee shop, Cafe Latte comes with consistently good reviews and is a popular place to visit for sandwiches, salads, pizzas, soups, breakfast paninis and even afternoon tea, along with cakes, pastries and exhibitions of local art.

Two more dining experiences that warrant a mention in St. Paul include both Casper and Runyon's Nook Restaurant on Hamline Avenue, and Cossetta's Italian Market and Pizzeria on 7th Street West.

Casper and Runyon's offers classic American-style fare, such as burgers and fries, steaks and barbecue grills, although due to its extreme popularity, you may well need to wait for a table. At Cossetta's Italian Market, tasty pasta dishes, pizzas, lasagnas and salads are the order of the day. In fact, many locals say that this restaurant boasts the very best pizzas in the Twin Cities.
