Augusta Tourist Attractions and Sightseeing
(Augusta, Maine - ME, USA)
Close to the campus of the University of Maine and the Best Western Plus Inn, and conveniently just off Interstate I-95, the Augusta Civic Center is a large multi-purpose arena attraction, and is owned and managed by the city.
Located a little under 20 miles / 32 km to the north of Augusta, in nearby Oakland, Messalonskee Lake offers a sizeable expanse of water, stretching for almost 10 miles / 16 km in length. The lake itself borders not only Oakland, but also the towns of Belgrade and Sidney, being greatly increased in size during the early part of the 20th century following the construction of a dam.
If a round of golf seems just a little too grown up for you, then perhaps you would prefer to try your hand at the city's very own Quarry Run Disc Golf Course, which is a popular family attraction during the sunny summer months. Alternatively, there are a number of museums in the capital, which deserve a look.
