Victoria Hotels and Accommodation

(Victoria, British Columbia - BC, Canada)

Photo showing the waterfront Fairmont Empress HotelDuring the busy summer tourism season, the city of Victoria is quick to fill up, with available accommodation being somewhat of a scarcity and hotels quickly filling up. Budget lodging in Victoria is heavily patronised and in great demand, with B&Bs being especially popular.

If you arrive in Victoria and are finding it hard to find available hotels, when head to the busy Infocentre on Wharf Street. The Infocentre resides next to the harbourfront and alongside the Fairmont Empress Hotel, and offers a useful accommodation finding service. Do bear in mind that hotel rates in Victoria are extremely seasonal, and so if you are planning to come here outside of the summer months, you will pay considerably less.

Where to Stay

Within the centrally located downtown district you will find a number of renovated historic hotels, providing surprisingly good value. Top-end in Victoria hotels tend to be clustered around the Inner Harbour area, while budget accommodation comes in the form of cheap hostels, motels and youth hostels, and tends to be spread around the city.

However, a good selection of hotels are to be found on the north-western side of the downtown district, along Douglas Street, Gorge Road Government Street and Fort Street, and also on the main strips within the city suburbs.

Between June and August, dormitories are also available at the University of Victoria, while campers can head out of the city to one of the various camping sites off the Trans-Canada Highway and the Highway 14, although these do tend to favour RV vehicles.
