Bayamon Beaches and Water Sports

(Bayamon, Puerto Rico)

There are some excellent beaches around Bayamon and metro San Juan that are open to the public. The Isla Verde Beach is the longest and widest in the entire region and comes lined with a plethora of luxury high-rise hotels.

Ocean Park Beach is a real beauty in Condado and popular with the young set. Try Condado Beach for water sports and a tourist scene, while El Escambron is great for swimming and its two neighbouring public parks provide useful recreational spaces.

General Information

The Isla de Cabras (Goat Island) provides one of the most popular and tempting seaside retreats in the San Juan area and offers a combination of sand, sea, seclusion and nature. There is little else on the Isla de Cabras other than its rocky coastline, benches, coastal trails and mature trees, and it is worth noting that the offshore currents are considered to be too strong to make swimming possible.

The untamed beaches of Pinones offer something quite different to those of the Isla de Cabras and lie to the east of both San Juan and Bayamon. Running alongside the Route 187 road, these beaches remain relatively deserted and come recommended. If you are here for a swim, then head to the westerly side of the beach, away from the coral.

It is worth noting that a number of the regional San Juan beaches should be avoided after nightfall.
