Huancayo Festivals and Events 2014 / 2015: General Information

Easter is amongst the biggest events in Huancayo and in particular, Holy Week (Semana Santa) is a real highlight. Holy Week takes place annually at either the end of March or the beginning of April, and offers visitors the chance to enjoy huge religious processions and masses. On July 25th, the Festival de Apóstol Santiago boasts a series of events, which range from dancing to traditional cattle branding, and has a distinctive pre-Hispanic flavour.

Visitors in Huancayo will always enjoy the Independence Days events on July 28th and 29th, which are known locally as the Fiestas Patrias and includes colourful military parades, festivals and live entertainment. Soon after, at the end of September, the tourism theme of the Mantaro Valley Touristic Week may also be of interest to Huancayo holiday makers, along with the Battle of Angamos Day on October 8th, and also the All Saints Day (Fiesta de Todos los Santos) on November 1st.
