Vinales Hotels and Accommodation

The lodging in Vinales fall into two categories - tourist hotels that cater to tour groups, and inexpensive 'casas particulares' that are a cross between a guest house and a bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation. Despite its popularity on the Cuban travel circuit, there are only three actual hotels in town.

Not to worry, however, as there are an estimated 300 casas particulares if you prefer that kind of accommodation. You will have no trouble arranging a room at these modest pensions, since a crowd of owners will descend on you the moment you step off your bus in Vinales.

Where to Stay

All three of the tourist hotels in Vinales boast impressive views from many of their rooms. Each of these three-star hotels is located a few kilometres from town, so they tend to be perched on low hills overlooking the Vinales Valley. The Hotel La Ermita offers especially pleasant accommodation with very nice views from its restaurant, although only a few of their rooms offer the same scenic view.

The Hotel Los Jazmines is perhaps a better choice, since more of the guest rooms have that classic Vinales view, especially those on the third floor. Little touches like French doors opening onto your balcony and stained glass give this place an extra dose of charm. The third hotel in Vinales is the Hotel Rancho San Vincente, located just north of the Cueva del Indio site. This nature-soaked hotel has the added element of a spa, with a handful of natural hot spring soaking pools and health treatments on offer.

The only other accommodation available in Vinales is the selection of casas particulares. These licensed inns are popular with travelling Cubans, giving you the bonus of a chance to mingle with the locals. They cost half the price of a hotel and provide reliably tasty meals with your lodging. Most of these villas, as they are also known, can be found along the town's main street and the side lanes just parallel. The Casa Ernesto y Marlen is widely regarded as one of the best inns in Vinales.
