Re. The house of chocolate - a dream home!
Was it a public holiday when you travelled? Or maybe the night before one? That would go some way to explaining the traffic. Hope you had a go at making your own chocolate too!

The house of chocolate - a dream home!
We didn't have to be fluent in Spanish to work out what Casa del Chocolate translated as and couldn't get there quick enough. It was worth the wait after sitting in traffic for a little while and it's easy to see why it's the number one attraction in Baracoa - although admittedly there aren't many of them. Things are more expensive for foreigners but don't let that put you off.

Re. The busiest but the best
You can head to Labuan Beach instead, it's not as busy. Or, try to head here during the week at the day time, when most people in Jakarta are stuck at work in the city. Holidays are always going to be busy!

Red history
Due to the lack of attractions in Baracoa we headed to the biggest hub of its province - Guatanamo City - and enjoyed the parade ground. It was full of monuments dedicated to the Revolution of the last century. Easy to find opposite the large Hotel Islazul. Only thing I was gutted about missing out on was the tour of the American military base.

Scenic railroad
We fancied taking the train around this favourite Caribbean island of ours and started in Baracoa while making stops at the likes of Honduras, Martires de la Frontera, and Yayal before arriving in the capital Havana. A top service wasn't expected but there were great sights every time we looked out of our window as the locals remained ever-eager to get to know us.
