Cienfuegos Hotels and Accommodation

(Cienfuegos, Cuba)

The main areas for accommodation in Cienfuegos are along the main Paseo del Prado (Calle 37), between here and the Parque Jose Marti, and down in the more laid-back area of Punta Gorda. The latter lies to the south of the city centre.

In these areas are star-rated Cienfuegos hotels, as well as many so called 'casas particulares'. These are local hotels in people's homes and provide accommodation more inline with bed and breakfasts (B&Bs). Lodging here is invariably cheap and there are hustlers galore waiting to divert you to this place or that.

Where to Stay

If you are stuck for where to stay or are right off the plane not knowing where to go, the Paseo del Prado is your best bet. This is the main street of Cienfuegos and runs right up through the centre of the city, being loaded with big hotels and cheaper lodging options.

There is a particular thicket of hotels and similar accommodation up near the El Bulevar boulevard, and many dependable casas particulares reside here. You will also find top-end hotels in this part of Cienfuegos, such as the Hotel Boutique La Union on Calle 31 (between the El Bulevar and Avenue 56).

Another popular spot to stay is down in the Punta Gorda area, which is just a 20-minute walk from downtown and is home to the best bay views in Cienfuegos. Streets 35 and 37 on the waterfront have the choicest hotels, along with shops and restaurants.

Notable Punta Gorda hotels include the Casa Ana Maria (Calle 35) - an old colonial home, the Vista al Mar (Calle 37) - with its seafront patio, and the Villa Lagarto (Calle 35) - which comes with a swimming pool and garden. For those planning to stay at the beach, the Club Amigo in Rancho Luna (to the south) may provide fairly mediocre accommodation, but is very well placed for a dip.
