Recife Hotels and Accommodation

(Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil)

There are many hotels spread around the city of Recife, although where you choose to stay really does depend on what you are planning to do during your time here. Accommodation in the actual centre of Recife is fairly limited and therefore most holiday makers choose to stay within the beach suburb of Boa Viagem, where you will find everything from youth hostels to five-star luxury hotels.

Located on the tree-lined Avenida Manoel Borba, the historic Hotel Central ranks amongst the city's best centrally located budget hotels and was once one of the most fashionable places to stay in Recife, before the arrival of the high-rise resort-style accommodation fronting the Boa Viagem Beach. More and more visitors are choosing to stay in the neighbouring city of Olinda, which is a convenient base for the multitude of attractions in Recife, being just 15 minutes away.

Where to Stay

A number of the city's most popular hotels reside on the Avenida Boa Viagem, where they come with private swimming pools, panoramic elevators and balconies overlooking the South Atlantic Ocean. One such hotel is the Atlante Plaza, which towers for 19 storeys and features three-star accommodation.

Other good choices on this stretch include the Internacional Palace Hotel, the Mar Hotel Recife and the Golden Tulip Palace, all of which are around 15 minutes from downtown. Running parallel to the Avenida Boa Viagem, the Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar is where you will find the popular Best Western Manibu, which boasts value two-star lodging just a minute from the Boa Viagem Beach itself.

A short distance to the north of the Avenida Boa Viagem is the Avenida Bernardo Vieira de Melo, which runs alongside the Piedade Beach and is home to a handful of accommodation options. These include the Blue Tree Towers Recife, which stands just off the Avenida Militar and right next to the Museu Militar Forte do Brum.
