Oistins Fish Market

Oistins Fish Market is a must-see attraction on Barbados. Tourists come from all over the island to see fisherman hauling in their daily catch, mending nets and divvying up the fish. Come on a Friday or Saturday night to take part in the community fish fry, where you will enjoy the live Caribbean music and the friendly atmosphere. Favourites include grilled barracuda, dolphin fish, flying fish, marlin, snapper and tuna.

Surfing

Barbados has a strong reputation with surfers, and there is no better place to enjoy the sport than in Christ Church. The south shore has the best waves and this spot is remote enough that surfers don't have to worry about dodging bathers and jet skiers. Coral reefs abound, and in certain places they form breaking points that generate excellent surfing conditions. Boards can be rented from many hotels and outfitters, some of which offer lessons.

Bajan Roots and Rhythm

This is the number-one dinner theatre in the entire Caribbean, and it takes place in the heart of St. Lawrence Gap. Staged at the Plantation Garden Theatre, this production showcases the culture and traditions of Barbados. Performers at 'Bajan Roots and Rhythm' don spectacular costumes, and a buffet and drinks are included in the price of admission.

Rockley Golf and Country Club

Christ Church has a solid reputation for golf, thanks largely to this country club. This nine-hole course is the oldest on the island, with a beautiful tree-lined fairway. It's often tagged as a 'risk-and-reward' course due to the challenging nature of play. Facilities at the Rockley Golf and Country Club are good, including a clubhouse complete with bar and restaurant, a pro shop, practice areas for driving and golfing tuition.

Barbados Golf Club

The other major golfing attraction in Christ Church, the Barbados Golf Club reopened in 2000 after much reconstruction work and became the first 18-hole championship golf course built on the island. It was designed by Ron Kirby and remains one of the more expensive golf courses on Barbados, since it has hosted a PGA tournament. The Barbados Golf Club is located within the Durants area and offers multi-day passes.

Globe Drive In

There are several cinemas in Christ Church, and one of the most successful operations is the Globe Drive In. Bring your rental car (preferably a convertible), buy snacks at the cinema and enjoy the show without missing out on the outstanding weather.
