The city's beaches soon start to fill with sunbathers, and the surrounding waters of the Aegean Sea quickly warm up and lend themselves to swimming.

Throughout the summer season, many outdoor events take place around Izmir, with open-air concerts taking full advantage of the balmy evenings and plentiful tourists. The summer heat lasts well into the year and both September and October see plenty of sunny weather and reliable temperatures.
