Zurich Museums

Many different museums are present in Zurich and if possible, do leave some time to explore at least one or two of the city's museums. A must-see is the Schweizerisches Landesmuseum (Swiss National Museum) in the Kreis 1 district of Zurich, which is located within the magnificent Neo-classical castle dating back almost 200 years. With an enormous collection of ancient weaponry, cultural treasures and historic artefacts, the Swiss National Museum clearly explains the development of Switzerland and also boasts particularly beautiful gardens.

Families will always enjoy a trip to the Spielzeugmuseum (Zurich Toy Museum) on Fortungasse, where more than 1,000 antique toys can be found, sited within a historic townhouse. Rather unique is the nearby Hasenmuseum (Rabbit Museum), which is close to Zurich's outskirts and home to a huge collection of rabbit toys and related exhibits. For in-depth information about anthropology and the evolution of man, the Museum der Anthropologie answers many interesting questions.
