One of Switzerland's leading cities in the world of art, Zurich is filled with quality art galleries and exhibitions. The Löwenbräu Complex is perhaps the first place you should head to in Zurich, where you can get a good understanding of how Zurich approaches the modern arts scene in Europe. Formerly a large brewery, several different art galleries are located within the Löwenbräu Complex, together with an extensive bookstore

The Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst (Museum of Modern Art) is known for showcasing young Swiss artists and lies within Zurich's Kreis 5 district. Onsite there is also a large permanent collection on display, much of which dates from the 1990s. Amongst the biggest and most notable art galleries in Switzerland, the Galerie Hauser and Wirth (Hauser and Wirth Art Gallery) features the paintings and works of famous Swiss artists, such as Roman Signer and Pipilotti Rist, while nearby the Kunsthalle (Art Hall) actively promotes emerging artists and photographers.


Home to perhaps the best collection of fine art in Zurich, the Kunsthaus (Art House) was established in the early part of the 20th century and features a series of Dadaist pieces within its galleries. Many people come here to view Monet's water lily paintings and the Alberto Giacommetti exhibition, especially on Wednesdays, when the admission is free.
