Gran Canaria and Maspalomas
The Maspalomas was a breathtaking place and I am so glad that a friend recommended it to me, which is why I am writing this. The Maspalomas is a huge expanse of sand and feels almost like you are on an African desert, in the middle of nowhere, although perhaps a little cooler! I found the sand dunes the best part and these are actually part of a vast nature reserve and the entire area is protected.

The Port of Mogan (Mini Venice)
I found the Port of Mogan to be one of the most interesting parts of Gran Canaria (Puerto de Mogan). The whole area has been designed with pedestrians in mind and is filled with colourful sights, such as the tropical gardens and a great volcanic beach. I enjoy taking a seat and watching everything going on around me, including the local fishermen arriving with their catch, and the wealthy yacht owners. The Puerto de Mogan is a resort in its own right and definitely a little upmarket in its flavour. The main attraction here is the 'yellow submarine', which takes its passengers on a trip underneath the sea. You can also join a deep-sea fishing trip and see if you can land a marlin or tuna fish.
