Moscow Golf Courses and Clubs

(Moscow, Central Federal District, Russia)

View of a course in MoscowMoscow may be Russia's capital city and boast many exceptional sportsmen, but when it comes to golf courses there is very little on offer here. For locals from Moscow, the golf courses are expensive and often beyond their reach, while for Europeans holidaying in this part of Russia, they may well be of interest.

The main course can be found at the Moscow City Golf Club, an established club with a sound reputation, dating back to the late 1980s. Close to the River Setun, this club has recently hosted the Russian Open and features a total of 18 holes, along with its very own sauna, restaurant, driving range and indoor winter Golf Centre. However, despite its relatively short length, this golf course is surprisingly challenging and features narrow fairways, many hazardous water features and more than 20 different sandy bunkers.

Also worth visiting is the highly regarded golf course at the Le Meridien Moscow Country Club. This is a very attractive course and features 18 holes, heavily wooded areas filled with densely planted silver birch trees, and well-maintained greens, although after heavy rain the grounds often feel a little wet underfoot and can take a while to dry out satisfactorily.
