Verona Airport (VRN) Information

(Verona, Veneto, Italy)

Verona Airport first served civil aviation traffic as early as 1919 and was once important during WWI as a military facility. Nowadays, it is a joint civil / military air hub, known locally as both Valerio Catullo Villafranca Airport and Verona-Villafranca Airport. It serves the four million inhabitants in its surrounding Bolzano, Brescia, Mantua, Rovigo, Trento, Verona and Vicenza provinces. This growing complex boasts an annual passenger throughput of more than 3.5 million.

The modern complex has two terminals, with the Arrivals Terminal (T2) having opened in 2006. At the same time, expansion and modernisations were taking place in the original terminal, which is now reserved for departures. Aer Lingus, Air France, Alitalia and British Airways offer full-service flights to Dublin, Paris, Rome and London, backed up by a good choice of low-cost and charter carriers flying both international and domestic routes. UK representatives include Flybe, EasyJet, Ryanair, Bmibaby, Monarch and Thomson Airways, and a good number of the flights often run on a seasonal basis.

The Roman city of Verona draws a huge number of visitors each year to its magnificent Roman area and other 2,000-year-old sites. There are also landmarks dating from medieval times and the glorious Renaissance era. Art museums, ancient churches and a cathedral, along with monasteries, two fortified castles and a charming old quarter, rub shoulders with Via Mazzini's upscale designer shops and atmospheric restaurants and bars. It is no wonder that this airport's busiest season is summer - the best time to visit this historic city.
