Turin Airport (TRN) Information
(Turin, Piedmont, Italy)
Turin's international air facility lies in the town of Caselle, in the Piedmont region. It is just 16 km / 10 miles from this northern Italian city, home to the mysterious and much-debated Turin Shroud. Known locally as the Sandro Pertini Airport (in honour of a former Italian president) or as the Turin Caselle Airport, this is a hub for the re-formed national airline Alitalia, serving almost four million passengers every year.
Alitalia is the main carrier based here, being backed up by full-service airlines British Airways, Iberia, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Air France. A raft of low-cost airlines including Ryanair and EasyJet also offer flights, while general aviation is supported here as well, with its own dedicated, small terminal.
A good number of summer holiday and winter skiing charter flights are hosted here, with routes to Greek, Spanish and North African beach resorts, together with
London and other UK cities,
Moscow and Tel Aviv. Thomas Cook and Thomson are two of the charter carriers servicing the airport. The now modern terminal was renovated some 20 years ago and again in 2005, in time for the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Turin Airport is linked to the city centre by a direct motorway via the city's ring road. The practical onward travel solutions here are restricted to road transport, as the rail connection only runs to Turin's Porta Dore Station, which is a fair distance from the centre and everything else of interest. The modern single terminal provides excellent traveller amenities.

Cars
The motorway trip from the airport to Turin city centre takes around 30 minutes, and longer during rush hour traffic. The airport approach road crosses the E612 just south of its junction with the E64 and carries on to the city centre.
Buses
The SADEM bus network links Turin Airport with the city and outlying areas, running every 30 to 40 minutes and taking roughly 40 minutes outside rush hours to complete the journey to the city's Porta Nuova Rail Station. Of note, Ryanair passengers are provided with a charter bus service.
Trains
The overland rail link from the station adjacent to the airport complex sets passengers down at the Porta Dore Station. From here, travellers must take the DoryFly half-hourly bus, which links with the Turin Metro and overground services to the city centre at the Porta Susa Station.
Taxis
Metered licensed taxis are to be found outside the terminal's Arrivals hall and are the most straightforward way to reach the city centre, with this journey taking roughly 30 minutes or more, depending on traffic conditions. Both Pronto and Radio taxis are the principal cab companies operating here.
