Located within Italy's acclaimed Emilia-Romagna region, Parma is amongst the most appealing cities to the west of Bologna. The city itself is centred around the winding Torrente Parma River and boasts an orderly and well-laid out arrangement of roads.

Parma's Old Town area is filled with cobblestone streets and public squares, and many locals choose to get around this part of the city on bicycle. The Via Mazzini is the main thoroughfare in central Parma and is sandwiched between the Via Massimo d'Azeglio and also the Strada della Repubblica, and alongside the Piazza della Steccata. Those in need of a map should head to the Parma Tourist Office along the Via Melloni, next to the Piazza della Pace and close to the Piazza del Duomo.
